Omaggio a Cremona 2024
Date: 30/05/2024
The two events, titled “Omaggio a Cremona”, mark the return of the historic concert series founded in 1986 at the initiative of Salvatore Accardo and Andrea Mosconi. For nearly forty years, these gatherings have created an ideal bridge between different generations of musicians; the Masters, stepping down from the podium, join the Students to make music together in front of the Cremonese audience. The concerts of the series have taken place in various locations throughout the city – from the Teatro Ponchielli to Palazzo Cittanova, from the Teatro Filodrammatici to the Church of San Marcellino. After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the 2024 edition of “Homage to Cremona” was held for the first time at the Museo del Violino.
On May 28, Maestros Bruno Giuranna and Franco Petracchi prepared their students and led the performance of the lively and brilliant String Sonata No. 1 by Gioachino Rossini and the Piano Quintet by Dmitry Shostakovich.
On May 30, Maestros Salvatore Accardo and Antonio Meneses performed alongside their students two masterpieces of Viennese Classicism and French Romanticism: the Piano Quartet No. 2 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the Quintet by César Franck.
