Stauffer Academy Students with Giovanni Sollima

From June 1 to 4, the Stauffer Academy is pleased to host Giovanni Sollima, one of the most extraordinary figures on the contemporary music scene, an authentic virtuoso of the cello and a composer of rare versatility. The course is intended for young composers and string instrumentalists, who will be able to measure themselves against Sollima’s extraordinary approach, aimed at breaking down all kinds of barriers between written and improvised music, overcoming all genre distinctions.

The Composition Lab with Giovanni Sollima will culminate in a final performance, an important realization moment of the work done with the acclaimed musician by the participating composers and instrumentalists. The concert will be live streamed on the StaufferCenter for Strings YouTube channel.
