Stauffer Academy and Cremona Consortium of Violinmakers in Japan
The Stauffer Academy and the Tokyo University of the Arts have agreed on a multi-annual educational and artistic exchange programme. The first appointment will take place from the 16th to the 21st December, when the Japanese University will host the Quartetto di Cremona and the Quartetto Goldberg for a series of masterclasses and concerts. On December 20th, the professors and students will also perform at the Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo. The programme will continue in February 2025, when a few ensembles of Japanese students from the Tokyo University of the Arts will be in residence in Cremona for an intensive period of study and concerts.
The project is carried out in collaboration with the “Antonio Stradivari” Consortium of Violinmakers of Cremona, which will present an exhibition of string instruments at the Tokyo University of the Arts and the Italian Cultural Institute. Giorgio Grisales, the President of the Consortium, will also give a lecture on the art of Cremonese lutherie and lead a workshop on the care and maintenance of string instruments.
