Guest Professor

Riccardo Donati is an internationally renowned double bass player. After his studies at the Florence Conservatory of Music (diploma with honors in double bass and diploma in piano), he perfected his studies with prominent Professors such as Villani and Petracchi. He has played as a soloist with leading Italian and international orchestras.

Winner of numerous national and international competitions, including 2nd Prize at the prestigious 1999 “Giovanni Bottesini” International Competition in Crema and 1st Prize at the 2005 “Valentino Bucchi” International Competition in Rome, he has performed as first double bass in major orchestras, including La Scala in Milan, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo. Since 1995 he has been Principal double bass of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.

Guest Professor for the Advanced Programme in Double Bass, his lessons focus on the in-depth study and interpretation of orchestral excerpts in preparation for competitions and auditions.
