Sae Institute

The Stauffer Academy and SAE Institute Milan have joined forces to equip musicians with essential recording techniques. Each year, they organize two workshops: one in Milan, at the SAE studios, and the other in Cremona. During these sessions, students from both institutions work together on tailored recordings, deepening their understanding of music production and artistic technologies.

Mastering recording techniques is a crucial aspect of every musician’s education — an art form that enhances both their expressive and technical abilities. The Stauffer Academy and SAE Institute Milan, one of the world’s leading institutions in sound production, have been collaborating for years to offer students a unique learning experience. This partnership engages students and faculty from both institutions in educational and artistic activities designed to explore cutting-edge recording techniques. The goal is to provide young string musicians with the tools they need to understand how technology can enrich and influence their artistic expression.

By focusing on the potential of recording and music production, the programme helps prepare musicians for a well-rounded career that aligns with today’s evolving professional landscape —where technical skills intertwine with musical creativity.

In 2025, project is structured in two appointments:

  • January 20-21, 2025 – Milan: Stauffer students recorded their performances at the SAE Institute, collaborating with faculty and students from the Milan-based academy.
  • February 19-20, 2025 – Cremona: A group of SAE students will travel to Cremona to record Stauffer students at the Sala Stradivari. On this occasion, two SAE professors will conduct a theoretical seminar for musicians, covering topics related to music production and the role of technology in the artistic context.
Technology serves music. Knowing and mastering it is essential for anyone who wants to make music today.
